The hospital waste (Biological as well Chemical hazards) comprising of infectious Waste (Blood & Bloodily fluids, diagnostic samples, cultures, swabs, bandages etc.), Pathological Waste (Human Tissues, organ or fluids etc.), Sharps (syringes, needles, disposable scalpels etc.), Chemicals (Laboratory Solvents, disinfectants, heavy metals etc.) Pharmaceutical (expired, unused & contaminated drugs), radioactive waste (radionuclides contaminants, radiotherapeutic materials etc.) Genotoxic Waste (mutagenic, teratogenic, carcinogenic & cytotoxic drugs). Incineration of these wastes is the best available techniques. Other techniques like microwave shredders, autoclaving, shredding, etc. provide interim treatment followed by requiring secure disposal/ burial which is not feasible in Pakistan as Waste Scavengers found selling buried / dumped wastes.
